London LaneLondon Lane Stud offers affordable five-star stabling and facilities in beautifully landscaped surroundings. Our client mix mainly consists of competitive showjumpers (children, juniors and adults) but we welcome anyone who loves horses to join our yard.

Chad Cunningham (Accredited FEI Level I and II Coach) is the resident trainer for all showjumpers and equitation riders. Chad is an experienced showjumper in his own right and has produced many riders that are competing at the highest levels in the sport.

  • Attended the 2013 Rob Hoekstra Coaches Clinic
  • Produced a South African Champion in Pony Riders, Juniors and Young Riders
  • Personally sponsored by Equiline and Prestige Saddlery through Western Shoppe
  • Awarded the W.A.S. Instructors Trophy for the instructor producing the most successful pupils for 2009, 2010 and 2012

Ian van Schalkwyk is our resident stable manager. He is very knowledgable and has worked with horses his whole life.  He is a hands-on manager who keeps the yard and all the horses in pristine condition. Ian also trains, rides and competes on all of London Lane’s competitive show jumping horses.  He currently rides Valanta in the 1.50ms and successfully jumped her for the first time at Derby in 2014, Airborn who is competitive in the 1.35m classes, and Capital Don Costello and Callaho Lundanos in the 1.20ms.

Dressage clients are more than welcome to bring their own instructor to the yard for lessons.

The yard offers the following :

  • Large T-Shaped barn with wide bricked passageways, loads of natural light, excellent ventilation,shuttered windows, four entrances that access the 40 large secure stables plus two secured tack rooms and storage room that are located in the barn.
  • Two inside wash bays with hot and cold water which is very handy during the winter months as well as two outside wash bays.
  • Automatic fly spray sprinkler system throughout the barn to help keep the fly population to a minimum.
  • Midge machine that attracts and kills/minimises all midges in the vicinity that spread diseases and sicknesses such as AHS and West Nile Fever.
  • Lovely Clubhouse with kitchen, offices, two fully equipped bathrooms for clients and a veranda with seating overlooking our gorgeous rose garden.
  • A large thatched boma complete with sofas and chairs as well as tea/coffee facilities situated perfectly to watch all lessons in the arenas.
  • Large jumping arena and lovely dressage arena, both under irrigation.
  • Screened-off lunge arena.
  • 400m sand trotting track around arenas to warm-up or cool-down horses, and is also ideal for fitness training.
  • All horses are fed top quality feeds, including Epol and Royal Feeds, depending on their dietary and exercise needs.  Ian individually plans each horse’s diet requirements, with the assistance of Royal Feed’s qualified Equine Nutritionist, Renita de Beer.  Top quality eragrostis is sourced all year round by a farmer who grows grass for London Lane.
  • A variety of small and large paddocks.
  • Horse Walker – fully supervised.
  • 24-hour supervision of horses.
  • Property secured with electric fencing and MonitorNet who provides 24-hour armed reaction. The tack rooms are fitted with Trelidors and have concrete ceilings to protect clients’ tack.
  • Experienced, friendly grooms (five horses per groom) who are highly proficient with show preparation, attending shows, lunging, grooming and providing loving care to their horses.
