London Lane’s Airo, a dark bay colt was born on 11 January 2013.  He is going to be a big substantial horse, and has an amazing top-line and neck.  He has superior movement and is well put together.  He has been bred with top class jumping lines, so should excel at jumping or eventing.

Pedigree and Breeding Lines

Airo’s sire, Airborn, an imported Holsteiner is excelling at jumping and has numerous wins under his belt, winning both sections of the Young Horse Performance Series 2012 for the best 7-year-old potential jumper and the 7-year-old show jumping series winner. He was also the 5-year-old Champion Potential Showjumper at YHPS in 2010. Airborn is ready to jump in the Open classes, but is off with an injury for several months. Airborn’s sire Caretino, one of Germany’s top stallions, has produced horses that excel in both the dressage and jumping rings. Caretino is by Caletto II, the most important son of the Holsteiner breed mainstay, Cor de la Bryère. As a young stallion, Caretino won his 100-day test at the Holsteiner Verband. The dam-sire of Airborn, Mytens xx was an influential Thoroughbred sire and was approved by the KWPN Society and the Holsteiner Verband. Mytens had a superb jumping technique and great power and elasticity, which he has passed on to his offspring.

Airo’s dam Classical Charm is by Canello who was imported by Frank Dittmann of the Brandenburg Stud. Canello’s sire, Calando I, is by the legendary Cor de la Bryère. Calando I won several Grand Prix events and was awarded a team bronze medal at the 1984 Olympics. Cor de la Bryère was the Champion of his 100-day Stallion Performance test and has had an incredible influence on the Holsteiner breed, occurring in more than 70% of Holsteiner pedigrees. Cor de la Bryère successfully passed his positive traits such as his incredible bascule, huge scope, jumping technique, willingness, and trainability onto his offspring. Classical Charm’s dam, Brandenburg Sonnet is by the imported KWPN stallion, Sabastian. He was bred out of top Dutch lines and was imported to South Africa by the Brandenburg Stud. He competed as an A-grade jumper and has been responsible for breeding a number of competitive South African Warmbloods.
