Ludanos, a dark bay gelding, was imported to South Africa by the Callaho Stud and was the highest priced horse on Callaho’s 2012 Auction. Born in 2008, he is an Oldenburger who stands 16.3hh high. His sire, Ludwigs As needs no introduction and his dam-sire is the marvelous stallion, Lordanos.

Ludanos is a stunning looking athlete with a temperament to match and we know he is destined for success at the very top. He has incredible movement as well as a very powerful correct jump. He is starting his jumping career with rider, Ian van Schalkwyk. We are very proud to be the owners of such a magnificent horse.

Pedigree and Breeding Lines

Ludanos’s sire, Ludwigs As is a modern type stallion with superior movement and an ideal jumping technique. He was the best jumper stallion at his licensing in 2005, as well as the Reserve Champion of his Oldenburg licensing. He then passed his performance test as the best three-year-old, with a fifth place overall. He produces high quality modern type foals with powerful hindquarters. His sire, Ludwig von Bayern, a Bavarian Warmblood is approved by the Oldenburg Verband, the Hannoverian Society and most other German Verbands. He is the son of the powerful, athletic Landor S. Ludwig von Bayern passed his stallion performance test with a rideability score of 10 and a jumping score of 9.5. He has a rare jumping ability, top class leg technique and a bascule of a class rarely seen. Ludwigs As’s dam, Premium Ster mare Belle Bijou is by Acord II. Acord II won his performance test and went on to the 1992 Budeschampionate in Verden where he was Reserve Champion. He produced more than 40 approved stallions and as of 2003, 60 dressage competitors and 404 jumpers. Acord II is also approved by the Hanoverian Studbook.

Ludanos’s dam, Ricola is by the top class sport horse, Lordanos. He has achieved numerous wins in jumping at Grand Prix level. Lordanos’s hereditary qualities have surpassed every expectation of his owners. He has sired more than 23 licensed sons and many champions at all levels including the 2003 Holstein Reserve Champion mare Perina, premium show jumper stallion sons Loredano, Lord Weingard and Lord Quidam. His son Lissabon, who is owned by the Callaho Stud in South Africa, won his stallion performance test in Oldenburg and is placed in the top 1% of Jumper sires and top 5% of Dressage Sires in Germany. Lordanos’s pedigree is based on the Holstein “Ramiro line”, which not only brought forth the Stallion of the Century, Ramiro, but also Calvados I and II, Cortino I and II, Lord Incipt, as well as many other international sports horses.
